After dinner, I make everyone a cup of hot chocolate with a stick of peppermint and some of my homemade marshmallows. We take our drinks, load into cars, and drive around to look at everyone's Christmas decorations. Afterwards, all kids are ready to be tucked into bed and the grown-ups can do their Santa thing before falling into exhausted slumber themselves. The pajamas make it all cozy and casual.

Re: Win $100 Wal-Mart Gift Card!

A few years ago, instead of having a traditional Christmas dinner at my grandparents, we started having soup and hotdogs with homemade coney sauce. This is usually the first thing we do to start anticipating Christmas. We blast music through the house, dance around, and reminisce about all the different ornaments and decorations and where we got each one. Each year we go out and pick out a new ornament and do a fun activity like ice skating, sledding, go look at lights, et cetera, so the memories of these little trinkets are endless!

Re: Win $100 Wal-Mart Gift Card!

Isubscribed!

This was the first year, but my children decided to start their own tradition. They each picked out one present that they want, and then they donated it to charity. They are starting to question Santa and why there are children that dont get anything. This is teaching them from a young age,the joy of giving, not to be selfish, and to appreciate what they do have.

Re: Win $100 Wal-Mart Gift Card!

My favorite holiday tradition as a child was listening to our Charlie Brown Christmas record which had a book with the entire story to read along with.

Re: Win $100 Wal-Mart Gift Card!

I'm signed up! A few years ago my parents decided that instead of having their kids buy them gifts they wanted us to spend the money doing service for someone else and then on Christmas give them a letter and pictures explaining what we did. This has been a wonderful tradition for our family and helps us keep the true meaning of Christmas in our hearts. We now have a book with all the things we have done over the years. It is so fun to look through and I can't wait to add to it this year.

Re: Win $100 Wal-Mart Gift Card!

My favorite holiday tradition is going to look at Christmas lights. Since we rotat where we hold the dinner, everyone gets a fair shot at cooking, without having to pass because they can't afford the cost.

I'm already subscribed. : )

Re: Win $100 Wal-Mart Gift Card!

My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the tree with my kiddos.
